Who we are?

MEDICAL REFERRAL ASSOCIATES (MRA) is a respected and highly regarded agency, which has a reputation since its inception in 1979 as a citadel of relief for those in desperate need of advice and counsel in a time of trauma.

The world of medicine advances almost on a weekly basis. Many illnesses and serious maladies which just recently were unable - or most difficult - to be diagnosed or treated properly, are today successfully and sometimes almost miraculously treated on a regular basis. It is truly one of the Almighty’s great kindnesses to our generation.

But, unfortunately, to avail one self of this kindness is sometimes not a simple matter at all. At most crucial times when major illnesses strikes, and desperation and tragedy threaten the very fiber of family life for which no one is ever prepared, one must first locate the best available doctor or facility which is able to provide the most effective treatment. When dealing with a delicate treatment, the need to make the right choice is very crucial. At times immediate attention is required where a delay can spell the difference between life and death…or, patients may find themselves in an unfamiliar facility due to an emergency situation and needs to know the capabilities of the hospital and its staff.

In many cases, due to the lack of knowledge in medical terminology or in medicine in general, patients are having a lot of difficulties to understand the diagnosis and procedures, tests or treatments recommended to them which might interfere with their vital care, and are in dire need of a liaison between them and their physicians to reassure and relax the patient and explain it to them in laymen’s terms.

To fill this void, MRA was established in 1979 as a center of relief and as a resource center so anyone can avail themselves of the most up to date information of physicians and their specialties. MRA has evolved into a multi-faceted community service agency, and is staffed by knowledgeable individuals who have spent years of effort in developing a database of information and contacts in the medical area. Their expertise is highly recognized by leading physicians who sometimes call themselves for information, and is a source of great comfort to the patient and their families.

Our main office is located in Brooklyn, New York. We also have representatives in many large cities around the country. We answer over 4000 calls monthly, and every call gets our thorough attention. Our phones are answered for emergencies around the clock. All services of MRA are provided absolutely free, there is never a fee or any obligations whatsoever.
